I was born in 1971 in Adana/Türkiye. I completed elementary and high schools at the Celalettin Sayhan İlkokulu and Yeni College, respectively. I started medical training in 1988 at Ege University Medical School, İzmir, Türkiye. I graduated in 1994 with the highest diploma degree of 34th academic year. I started pediatrics training in November 1994 in Department of Pediatrics, Hacettepe University, Ankara, Türkiye. I served as a chief resident in Pediatrics between September 1998-December 1999. I started Pediatric Nephroloy and Rheumatology fellowship in May 2000 in Hacettepe University and completed these trainings in November 2002. Between years 2004-2005, I studied on genetics in nephrology at the University of Michigan/Ann Arbor/USA. After returning to Türkiye, I was appointed as an assistant professor in year 2005 and associate professor in year 2006, respectively. I am still working as a full professor position in Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, Division of Pediatric Nephrology. I established the first Nephrogenetics Laboratory of Türkiye under the roof of Hacettepe University in year 2006. I participated many national and international projects including ERARE and FP7 international collaborative projects. I found 5 novel genes in the Hacettepe University and provided significant contribution to the discovery of 9 new genes in collaboration with the others.
I am married and have 2 children.
While my main areas of expertise are pediatric kidney disease and pediatric rheumatologic diseases, my main research area is genetics of pediatric kidney diseases.
